Read Surah Mulk: Full Arabic Text, and English Translation

Here is the complete, unbroken text of Surah Al-Mulk (Chapter 67 of the Quran). I highly encourage you to read slowly. Focus on the Makharij (points of articulation). Feel the weight of the words.

Surah Al-Mulk

Blessed is the One in Whose Hands rests all authority. And He is Most Capable of everything

Surah Al-Mulk67:1

˹He is the One˺ Who created death and life in order to test which of you is best in deeds. And He is the Almighty, All-Forgiving

Surah Al-Mulk67:2

˹He is the One˺ Who created seven heavens, one above the other. You will never see any imperfection in the creation of the Most Compassionate. So look again: do you see any flaws

Surah Al-Mulk67:3

Then look again and again—your sight will return frustrated and weary

Surah Al-Mulk67:4

And indeed, We adorned the lowest heaven with ˹stars like˺ lamps, and made them ˹as missiles˺ for stoning ˹eavesdropping˺ devils, for whom We have also prepared the torment of the Blaze

Surah Al-Mulk67:5

Those who disbelieve in their Lord will suffer the punishment of Hell. What an evil destination

Surah Al-Mulk67:6

When they are tossed into it, they will hear its roaring as it boils over

Surah Al-Mulk67:7

almost bursting in fury. Every time a group is cast into it, its keepers will ask them, “Did a warner not come to you?”

Surah Al-Mulk67:8

They will reply, “Yes, a warner did come to us, but we denied and said, ‘Allah has revealed nothing. You are extremely astray.’”

Surah Al-Mulk67:9

And they will lament, “If only we had listened and reasoned, we would not be among the residents of the Blaze!”

Surah Al-Mulk67:10

And so they will confess their sins. So away with the residents of the Blaze

Surah Al-Mulk67:11

Indeed, those in awe of their Lord without seeing Him will have forgiveness and a mighty reward

Surah Al-Mulk67:12

Whether you speak secretly or openly—He surely knows best what is ˹hidden˺ in the heart

Surah Al-Mulk67:13

How could He not know His Own creation? For He ˹alone˺ is the Most Subtle, All-Aware

Surah Al-Mulk67:14

He is the One Who smoothed out the earth for you, so move about in its regions and eat from His provisions. And to Him is the resurrection ˹of all˺

Surah Al-Mulk67:15

Do you feel secure that the One Who is in heaven will not cause the earth to swallow you up as it quakes violently

Surah Al-Mulk67:16

Or do you feel secure that the One Who is in heaven will not unleash upon you a storm of stones. Only then would you know how ˹serious˺ My warning was

Surah Al-Mulk67:17

And certainly those before them denied ˹as well˺, then how severe was My response

Surah Al-Mulk67:18

Have they not seen the birds above them, spreading and folding their wings? None holds them up except the Most Compassionate. Indeed, He is All-Seeing of everything

Surah Al-Mulk67:19

Also, which ˹powerless˺ force will come to your help instead of the Most Compassionate? Indeed, the disbelievers are only ˹lost˺ in delusion

Surah Al-Mulk67:20

Or who is it that will provide for you if He withholds His provision? In fact, they persist in arrogance and aversion ˹to the truth˺

Surah Al-Mulk67:21

Who is ˹rightly˺ guided: the one who crawls facedown or the one who walks upright on the Straight Path

Surah Al-Mulk67:22

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “He is the One Who brought you into being and gave you hearing, sight, and intellect. ˹Yet˺ you hardly give any thanks.”

Surah Al-Mulk67:23

˹Also˺ say, “He is the One Who has dispersed you ˹all˺ over the earth, and to Him you will ˹all˺ be gathered.”

Surah Al-Mulk67:24

˹Still˺ they ask ˹the believers˺, “When will this threat come to pass, if what you say is true?”

Surah Al-Mulk67:25

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “That knowledge is with Allah alone, and I am only sent with a clear warning.”

Surah Al-Mulk67:26

Then when they see the torment drawing near, the faces of the disbelievers will become gloomy, and it will be said ˹to them˺, “This is what you claimed would never come.”

Surah Al-Mulk67:27

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Consider this: whether Allah causes me and those with me to die or shows us mercy, who will save the disbelievers from a painful punishment?”

Surah Al-Mulk67:28

Say, “He is the Most Compassionate—in Him ˹alone˺ we believe, and in Him ˹alone˺ we trust. You will soon know who is clearly astray.”

Surah Al-Mulk67:29

Say, “Consider this: if your water were to sink ˹into the earth˺, then who ˹else˺ could bring you flowing water?”

Surah Al-Mulk67:30
"'There is a Surah in the Quran which contains thirty Ayat which kept interceding for a man until his sins are forgiven. This Surah is Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion.' — Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Sunan Abi Dawud"

How to Build a Consistent Nightly Habit to Read Surah Mulk

We all struggle with consistency. You finish a long shift at work, get the kids to bed, and simply collapse. The thought of opening a book feels impossible. But building an unbreakable spiritual habit is entirely possible when you tie it to the right anchors in your daily life.

Link It to Your Isha Prayer

The most effective strategy my students use is habit stacking. Do not wait until you are halfway asleep in bed. The moment you finish your Witr (final night prayer) after Isha, do not move from your prayer mat. Sit right there. Open your phone or your Mushaf (physical Quran). When you link the act to read surah mulk directly to the end of a required Salah, your brain stops viewing it as a separate, optional task. It becomes part of the prayer routine itself.

Use Audio Aids for Pronunciation

If you struggle with Arabic, listen to a reputable reciter while following along with the transliteration above. Slow the audio down to 0.75x speed. Focus intensely on how they pronounce the heavy letters like Kha (خ) and Ghayn (غ). It takes patience. But within a few weeks, your tongue will naturally adapt to the Makharij (points of articulation). This is the exact foundational method we use in our Quran Foundation course.

Action Step: Tonight, leave your physical Quran open to Surah Al-Mulk directly on your pillow so you physically cannot go to sleep without interacting with it.

The Spiritual Weight of the 30 Verses

To merely utter the syllables is one thing. To deeply understand the Tafsir (exegesis) is another entirely. This Surah is not just a shield; it is a profound cosmological argument.

Let's break down exactly what you are asserting every single night:

Verses

1-5
6-14
15-30

Core Theme

The Majesty of Allah
The Reality of the Unseen
The Earth and Provision

Spiritual Lesson

We recognize the flawless perfection of the night sky, realizing that the Creator of billions of stars is intimately aware of our tiny, daily struggles.
A stark warning about the Hereafter, immediately followed by the immense reward for those who fear Allah in private, when no one else is watching.
A reminder that gravity, water, and life itself are sustained by Divine command, not blind nature. Our provision is entirely dependent on His mercy.

When we look at the Sahabah (Companions of the Prophet), their relationship with the Quran was intensely practical. Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, a prominent Companion, recorded that during the time of the Prophet ﷺ, they literally referred to Surah Al-Mulk as Al-Mani'ah (The Preventer). They firmly believed that it prevented the punishment of the grave. They didn't just read it casually. They held onto it like a lifeline.

This is why I strongly recommend pairing your nightly reading with structured memorization. When you memorize the verses, you carry your shield in your heart. If you're interested in the mechanics of retention, you can explore our detailed guide on How to Memorize Surah Al-Mulk: A 4-Week Step-by-Step Guide.

Action Step: Choose just one verse tonight to read with its English translation, and spend 60 seconds reflecting on its meaning before closing your eyes.

Perfecting Your Recitation: Why 1-on-1 Guidance Matters to Read Surah Mulk

Reading the transliteration is a beautiful start. It shows incredible sincerity. But transliteration can never fully capture the complex, beautiful phonetic rules of the Arabic language. You will eventually hit a ceiling.

At Tarteel Global, we consistently observe that students who transition from self-study to guided learning experience a massive leap in confidence. When you sit with a real, qualified scholar holding an Ijazah (an unbroken chain of transmission), everything shifts. You stop guessing. You start learning. Our personalized, 1-on-1 online sessions offer:

  • Immediate Correction: Your tutor hears a subtle mistake in your Tajweed (rules of recitation) and gently corrects it in real-time before it becomes a bad habit.
  • Paced Learning: We never rush you. Whether you are an absolute beginner or looking to perfect your advanced recitation, the curriculum adapts completely to your speed.
  • Spiritual Mentorship: Our Ijazah-certified tutors don't just teach letters. They teach the profound respect and etiquette of handling the Book of Allah.

If you want to truly master these 30 verses, consider joining our Quran Tajweed course. It is an investment in your eternal shield.

Conclusion

The night is often the hardest part of the day. It is when the noise of the world fades and we are left alone with our thoughts. But as a believer, you are never truly alone. When you build the quiet, consistent habit to read surah mulk, you are actively bringing a powerful intercessor into your life. You are securing your grave. You are recognizing the absolute dominion of Allah over your worries, your provision, and your ultimate destination. Do not let another night pass without these thirty verses on your tongue. Start tonight. Read slowly. Trust the process. And may Allah make you among the companions of the Quran.
